Earlier this year, Year 9 students took part in the Junior Achievement Challenge for Change - a full-day event focused on creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Working in groups, students were challenged to develop innovative solutions to some of today’s most pressing environmental issues, including food waste, fast fashion, energy inefficiency, and littering.
Throughout the day, teams applied critical thinking and teamwork to develop meaningful ideas that could make a real difference in their communities. They first presented their concepts in class, with the top groups going on to pitch to a panel of external judges made up of respected business leaders from across the Island. The programme provided a fantastic opportunity for students to explore how they can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Last week the winning team – Joseph, Grace, Toby and Lucas - represented QEII with their invention, the Light Saver, an energy-saving solution aimed at tackling energy inefficiency. They were invited to present their idea at Games Global in Douglas, where they competed against other schools from across the Island. Well done - you did a fantastic job!
