Wind Concert - Friday 12th October

Published Wednesday 17 October 2018

Friday 12th October saw the School Hall filled with over 75 musicians and a large and appreciative audience to enjoy the third annual concert performed by the jointly by the QEII High School Wind Band and the Isle of Man Wind Orchestra.

The bands played a short programme each during the first part of the evening which featured music from the James Bond films, John Williams, Katy Perry and Queen, amongst others. The bands then combined to perform together, the joint performance beginning with Paul Dunderdale from the IOMWO conducting Martin Ellerby’s ‘Big Easy Suite’. Paul then handed the baton over to QEII’s Mr Kinley who directed both bands through the evening’s finale of 'Hawaii 5-O’, ’The Syncopated Clock and the Beatles’ ‘Hey Jude’.

The evening was a great success and raised over £750 for the QEII School Association. Plans are already in place to repeat the concert next Autumn.
