Students raise funds for Hospice Isle of Man

Published Friday 23 October 2020

On Tuesday 20th October, QEII High School were delighted to welcome Alexandra Slater, Young Ambassador for Hospice Isle of Man, to present her with two cheques, totalling £2398.43, which was raised by our students over the course of the last academic year.

As part of the ‘Wallaby Challenge’, last year’s Year 8 students took part in a number of events before lockdown and raised a tremendous £1959.43! These included a cake sale, sponsored walk, sponsored silence and throwing sponges at teachers in the stocks! Kate Doran (now Year 9) also raised £100 on her own with a Lucky Dip at the Christmas Fayre.

Our Student Council also raised £439 for Hospice (Rebecca House) again with various bake sales and sponsored walks and silences.

The students listened as Alexandra described her time as a Young Ambassador and told them how much it costs to run the Hospice each year and the difference that every penny makes. The Student Council are shortly going to visit Rebecca House to learn a little more about the Hospice and how they help children of the Isle of Man.
