This year in Citizenship, students took part in a charity project designed to connect them with the community whilst developing research, teamwork and presentation skills. Working in groups, they explored the work of charities that support a particular social issue they felt strongly about. After selecting a charity to focus on, they reached out to their chosen organisation to hear first-hand the work they do to support our island. Using this information, they then prepared presentations to share with their peers.
The winning groups from each class were selected to present in the final, where they had the chance to win a £1,000 prize or one of two £250 prizes for their charity, generously sponsored by Barclays Bank.
The final, held on Wednesday 9th July, was a fantastic showcase of the students' hard work, passion and compassion. Each group impressed the judges with the depth of their research, the strength of their teamwork, and their dedication to raising awareness.
We are incredibly proud of all the students who took part. Congratulations to our winners:
• First Place (£1,000) – Bridge the Gap - Olivia, Holly, Megan
• Runners-Up (£250) – Isle of Man Breast Cancer Support Group - Evie Grayse, Catherine, Freya
• Recognition (£250) – Crossroads - Summer, Elana, Madison
Well done to everyone involved for making this project such a success!
