At Queen Elizabeth II High School our Design and Technology curriculum intent is to provide all students with a chance to succeed in a wide range of Design and Make related areas. We believe that the education we provide within five varied key areas are pivotal to Students becoming citizens who can make the world more creative and, ultimately more sustainable. Our key areas of Product Design, Textiles, Food & Nutrition, Graphics and Practical Woodwork allow every Student to find their ‘love’ of a subject. These areas are linked by a common process: working to a brief, designing and making, then evaluating the process and their final product. Our subject has the potential to allow the students to contribute to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of themselves, their community and their world. Students develop a critical understanding of the impact of design and technology on daily life and the wider community and to become wiser consumers.

Our Design and Technology curriculum builds the self-esteem of its students by providing a varied pathway for all abilities through an education which has the potential to pave the way for a hugely diverse range of careers. Design and Technology is rich in cross curricular links and is where the application of other subjects is both evident and meaningful to the student. Success in our subject will be realised by those who can show the resilience and long-term commitment to their work which is such a vital life skill for their futures.
